Elijah stood silent still, in the field not far from him stood an empty cabin. A place he had kept hidden for himself a hundred years ago. His place where he could let go any pretenses he kept to keep the face of calm in place.
Hayley would be the first one to see it. Ever, not once had he brought another here.
The wind blew ever so slightly, it brushed his hair with an errant hand and he turned his face into it for a moment.. His mind a mass of emotions, the text which had started all of this was still on his mind.
As were the words he finally needed to say to Hayley. He was jealous and angry with Rebekah. Shamefully aroused by the images in another way as he waited in conflict for Hayley to arrive. It was more than he had let himself hope for in so long, someone finally in, someone he was not holding as far away from his as he could.
Hayley hadn't sent the message to Elijah on purpose, she really hadn't. However, as it was working out? She didn't really feel bad about it. Things with Rebekah were what they were--distraction for each of them when they could manage to get together. It wasn't as if that were going to be something frequent now, not when what was at stake wasn't pissing off Klaus, but Hope's safety.
Still, she'd been trying to...she didn't know what. Trying to distract herself.
Elijah's response was far better for that, and other reasons.
She made her way to the cabin, wondering where he was sending her, though she smiled to herself when she caught his scent right before finding him. She was still adjusting to how heightened her senses were now, even above what they'd been before. It wasn't something she'd given a lot of thought to, but out here it was hard to ignore.
She was smiling a little as she stepped out of the clearing and into his sight. "Hi."
Elijah knew he would not have done that on purpose. He knew Hayley could read the feelings he had for her. Her scent was different, she was a hybrid now but Elijah knew it was her who approached all the same.
His body was turning as she emerged and the pleasure a seeing her rose above all the other emotions conflicting inside of him.
"Hayley.." And his lip shifted into that faint, genuine smile that gave away so much.
She always felt a thrill when she saw him smile, especially if it was at her. How rarely he did it--a real smile, not just looking amused--made it special. That he smiled at her made her feel special.
"How could I resist an invitation to cryptic coordinates in the woods?" she asked lightly.
Especially given their discussion and the part where he seemed to imply he was maybe ready to do a bit more than exchange a few kisses.
She was special, she brought a light into Elijah's life that he had been missing for so long. He made him ache and reach for things he had long thought lost to him.
She made him Hope.
Elijah closed the distance "I apologize for the secrecy, I have never shown this place to any one."
There was so much he wanted to say and Elijah reached out to take her hand. The words were there but it was a struggle not to just kiss her and lose himself in the depth of her beautiful yes.
Elijah felt a phantom warmth spread through him. Not one that came from the body but from the heart. When she came closer his available hand rose to her hair, brushed it back as the palm cupped her cheek.
"There is no one else I would ask." Those deep, dark eyes of his searched hers for a few moments again. Then he started "Hayley, there is so much I need to say to you. I have denied my feelings for too long." He looked away for a moment, a glimmer of doubt, what if he had waited too long.
"I don't want to deny them any longer. I do not want you to seek my sister's arms or her bed. I want you to seek mine."
She stayed quiet as he explained, expressed himself in the positive way without the usual disclaimers of no matter what he wanted he couldn't because of Klaus. He didn't mention Klaus at all, and she found herself smiling.
Leaning her cheek into his hand, she smiled, then turned her head a little to brush her lips over the palm of his hand.
"Okay."
Really, there wasn't anything else to say but that, so leaning in, she brushed another kiss over his lips in turn.
No matter how she had looked at him until she said that simple word there was a part of Elijah that waited for her to tell him he had waited too long. He had taken too much care with his brother and not enough with her.
How many times had he let love go for Klaus?
Then, none of them mattered. Her lips were against his and for the first time Elijah held nothing back. His arms wrapped around her, pulled her to his chest. He kissed her deeply, lips parted as he tasted the unique flavor of her mouth.
Honestly, Hayley had begun to be despairing that he was ever going to make a move, even after that kiss in the nursery. But then...she'd died and Hope had almost died and they'd been grieving, all of them. It made this, thinking of it even, seem like an awful thing to do. Like, what kind of mother was she if she was thinking about sex after giving her baby away (even for her own safety)?
But there was comfort, too, and sometimes you had to reach out for that, to hold on to the people that mattered, and she really, really needed to wrap herself up in someone, to feel like the world would be okay again. And he was the someone she wanted for that.
With a soft sound, she slid her arms more around him, pressing herself against his chest as he held her and kissed him like she'd wanted to for months, not holding anything of herself back.
It was all he had imagined and much more at the same time, it was coming home and peace. It was wildfire all the same time. Kissing her knowing that this time he would not hold back, it was everything to Elijah. For a moment he lost himself only in the feel of her lips. The way her silken hair fell in thick strands against his fingers.
Then he wanted more, more of everything. More of her and Elijah's hands fell to her lip, he lifted her with that speed that only creatures of their ilk could manage and began to stride toward the cabin with her.
His lips did not stop exploring hers, he knew the path and had no fear falling. They did however curve against her own as the door came open and he as able to shut it with one dress shoe behind him.
Hayley gasped into the kiss as he swept her into his arms, her own tightening around him at the sudden move. Then she had to laugh a little, delighted, before kissing him more hungrily.
By the time he kicked the door closed, her hands had slid to his tie and were busy undoing it. She'd waited so long, wanted him for so long, that impatience was getting the best of her. Tugging at the material, she got it free and tossed it away, moving for his buttons as best she could reach the way he held her and with her mouth busy.
Heat was racing along under her skin and everything--everything--was so much...more. She'd thought the world had sharpened, been more intense when the wolf woke almost eight years ago now. That was nothing compared to how the taste of him, the slide of his fingers over her, felt now.
He could feel her impatience and in truth it fueled his own, control may seem easy for him but it was like a suit of armor. When freed from it was like heaven. When she began to tug at his clothes his fingers found hers. Brushing anywhere that was bare to them as he did so. If he could memorize her through touch he would but he would need time.
Later..
He could find that time, for now he would indulge what spaces he could find and linger after. He caught her shirt then realized his jacket was in the way. It is quick and reluctant when he let go and shrugged the jacket to the floor. Never mind where it landed o if it got dirty. Her slender waist came beneath digits and they held, pulled closer then pushed back enough to grip the hem of her shirt.
Elijah shoved it upward, knuckles grazed her abdomen as the fabric curled in a bunch till right below her upper ribs.
Hayley didn't want to break the kiss, but she wanted her clothes off, wanted his off, too. Pulling her mouth free and away just a bit, she helped him pull off her shirt, tossed it after his jacket. Then she kissed him again.
Her fingers found the buttons of his shirt and started undoing them, quickly, deftly, using those new vampire senses and speed to aid her. There'd be time to linger, to touch every part of him, to make a slow and teasing game of it...later. Right now she just needed to feel him, touch him, settle skin against his skin.
She was careful not to rip the buttons, but she tugged the last couple open, reaching up to push his shirt off his shoulders as her tongue continued to tease and play with his.
Elijah could match her speed, only because he was an Original vampire and while his clothes were removed he did his best with hers. Only losing contact with that enchanting tongue when necessary and coming back to the kiss with renewed hunger the second he was able.
Her name is a soft utterance across his lips as he finds her skin, flush against his own. The reality more intoxicating than he could have ever imagined as his hands sought her hips.
Elijah lifted her into his arms as his breath already came heavy from his chest, each wash of air thick with desire as fingers dug into flesh, not enough to hurt but enough to keep her in place as he tumbled them back into the closed door.
Hayley had gone through her entire pregnancy, all those hormones and sex drive going to waste, and now that she had a chance for this, she wasn't wasting time. The way he said her name made her want to whimper, and when he lifted her, she wrapped her legs around his waist.
Up against the door, on the floor, over the table...she really didn't care. The feel of him pressed so close and intimately made her moan, and she rocked her hips down against him, hot and slick and ready like she'd just been waiting for this moment.
