Elijah felt a phantom warmth spread through him. Not one that came from the body but from the heart. When she came closer his available hand rose to her hair, brushed it back as the palm cupped her cheek.
"There is no one else I would ask." Those deep, dark eyes of his searched hers for a few moments again. Then he started "Hayley, there is so much I need to say to you. I have denied my feelings for too long." He looked away for a moment, a glimmer of doubt, what if he had waited too long.
"I don't want to deny them any longer. I do not want you to seek my sister's arms or her bed. I want you to seek mine."
